This policy applies to the Glassframe Mac app and the Glassframe Connector Chrome extension.
Glassframe does not collect, store, sell or share any personal data. Video never leaves your Mac. There are no accounts, analytics, trackers, ads or servers.
2. The Mac App
Glassframe shows a video on your screen as a see-through overlay. Frames are shown and discarded; they are never recorded, saved or uploaded. Audio is not captured.
[Screen Recording permission]
Used only when you choose "Show a Video App…" to show another app's window. Only the window you pick is captured, and only while it is shown.
[Accessibility permission — direct download build only]
The Mac App Store build never requests this permission; there the playback shortcuts work with Chrome videos only.
Optional in the direct download build. Used only if you use Glassframe's play/pause and skip shortcuts with QuickTime Player, IINA, VLC or mpv: Glassframe then sends that app its own playback keys, or moves QuickTime Player's timeline. Glassframe does not read, log or record what you type.
[Local connection]
Glassframe communicates only with its Chrome extension on the same Mac, over 127.0.0.1. It makes no internet connections. Links such as the Chrome Web Store page open in your browser only when you click them.
[Settings]
Your settings — visibility, shortcuts, overlay position, the name and title of the last window you chose, and the video area you drew for each app — are stored on your Mac in the app's preferences.
3. The Chrome Extension
When you choose "Show this video in Glassframe" (toolbar button, right-click menu or keyboard shortcut), the extension captures that one tab's picture with Chrome's tab capture.
• It finds where the video is on the page so only the video is sent, compresses it, and sends it to the Glassframe app on the same Mac over a local connection (127.0.0.1). Nothing is sent over the internet.
• It can play, pause or skip the video in that tab when you use Glassframe's playback controls.
• While Chrome is running, it checks in with the Glassframe app on 127.0.0.1 every 20 seconds so the app can show that Chrome is connected. The check-in contains only the extension's version number. Its setup page uses the same local connection to show whether the app is running.
• Audio is not captured. Frames are not recorded or saved.
4. Data Stored by the Extension
Only the ID of the tab currently being shown, and whether its setup page was already shown for that tab. Both are kept in Chrome's session storage, which is cleared when Chrome closes.
5. Third Parties
No data is shared with anyone.
6. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
The use of information received from Chrome APIs by Glassframe Connector adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
